Study Habits by Zodiac Sign

Today I’ll be your astrological counselor on the best way to tackle college this semester. Our zodiac signs say a lot about us, even our study habits. What are the stars saying about you?

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Aries, the ram and fire sign. Your natural ability to lead can be used to take initiative in forming a study group this semester. This is a great opportunity to meet people and hear new ideas. You digest information rather quickly and are naturally competitive. Your impatience can often cause you to ignore vital information. Remember it’s a marathon, not a race.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Although often seen as stubborn, your perseverance will take you a long way this semester. Use a planner to your advantage to physically check off your due dates and deadlines. Calm your mind by changing up your study environment this semester. Perhaps a café or a quiet corner in the Union will be just the right space for you to fully engage in your studies this semester.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Geminis are adaptable and restless. Make sure to shake up your schedule with classes you genuinely enjoy, even if they don’t apply to your major. You often multitask and procrastinate during studying. Try studying with a friend who will keep you accountable and make sure you’re staying on task.

Cancer (June 21 – July 20)

Cancers are emotion-based. Everything they do is based on the emotion they’re feeling at the time. You work best when you’re feeling emotionally balanced. Otherwise, you have a hard time staying focused on the task at hand. Taking breaks in your studying will help keep things in order and not overwhelm you. Outside of the classroom, social media breaks might also be of benefit to reduce as many distractions as possible.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

The bold and proud Leo. These are great qualities to use in class, don’t be afraid to speak up or challenge an idea. At the same time, don’t forget to be humble and ask for help. Study with a tutor, go to your teacher’s office hours or join a study group.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Virgos are known for being well organized and highly independent. Do yourself a favor and keep your space tidy and clean. Utilize those color-coded sticky-notes, highlighters, and colorful pens. Organizing your notes in a way that makes sense to you will benefit your greatly this semester. Choose a study environment that is quiet with very few distractions. With your independence, it may benefit you to study alone.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Libras are very social and sometimes have a hard time balancing their extracurriculars with the school. Balance is key! Set a time that is strictly dedicated to studying, and a time for extracurriculars. You’ll be able to enjoy both by setting boundaries. Don’t forget sleep is your friend!

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

You’re passionate and need a playlist to match that. Music is a great tool to use while studying. Choose a tune that keeps you engaged and focused. You have a determined focus, making it easy for you to retain information. A song to match your mood will be a game-changer in your studying success.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

I know you’d much rather be with your friends than studying, but prioritizing is key. You’re naturally curious and it can be hard to focus on one topic at once. I suggest shorter study sessions with frequent study breaks. Motivation is another great tool. Perhaps you don’t allow yourself to hang with friends until all your homework and studies are done. You have the potential to succeed in any subject if you put forth the effort.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

You can be your own worst enemy. Stop comparing yourself to others. The best tool for you will be positivity. When things are confusing and don’t make sense, don’t quit! Take a step back, and work at your own pace.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Aquarius are known for their creativity. You can translate that creativity into your note-taking. Diagrams, doodles, small drawings will help keep you engaged while you study. Invest in colorful pens to let your imagination wander.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Use your compassion to help others in the class that may be struggling. Sometimes explaining the material can give you deeper meaning and help test your knowledge. Don’t be afraid to raise your hand and insert your point of view in-class discussion, what you have to say is meaningful.
